"Wil Shorb looks out his dormer window and sees things that most people don't. No, that's not quite right. He notices things that most people don't. He sees people: carpenters, conductors, paper boys, ball players. He sees places. He sees the history of those people in those places, from little people like the paper boy to giants like Babe Ruth and Hudson Taylor. And what he sees, he says, in words crafted into the classic patterns too many modern poets have forgotten. What his vision leaves behind is wisdom, the wisdom to delight in the little people and the giants and realize that they both matter. In seeing that, you might get a little closer to seeing them as God does. Climb the stairs and look out that dormer window with Wil, and you will be a richer person for it."
